Once again, the intersection of religion and commerce is provoking anger within the faith-based community.
Paula White, the President's Chief Faith Advisor, announced that for $1000, anyone can purchase what she calls the "7 Blessings of Passover."
To receive these "7 Blessings," one would need to send the televangelist $1K or more before Easter
As enumerated in her pitch, the "7 Blessings of Passover" will include
1) An angel assigned to you
2) Be an enemy to your enemy
3) Give you prosperity
4) Take sickness away
5) Give you long life
6) Cause increase for you
7) A special year of blessing
White mentions that she's basing her promise of 7 blessings on Exodus 23, which ironically begins with these words:
“You shall not spread a false report. You shall not join hands with the wicked to act as a malicious witness. You shall not follow a majority in wrongdoing.”
Moreover, in addition to the "7 blessings," patrons would also receive a 10-inch Waterford cross, devotionals, and an “olive wood communion set” from the Holy Land.
Of course these additional tangible gifts do not cost $1000; however, White did not mention where the rest of the money is going or who the offering may be helping.
These "7 blessings" along with the other bric-a-bracs start on April 12th and conclude on April 20th, Easter Sunday.
