Le'Andria Johnson's struggles with alcohol continues as she sits behind bars in a detention center.
According to public records, the Grammy-Award winning gospel singer was arrested on Monday, December 16th around round 3:37 p.m for public drunkenness in Greenville, SC.
Public drunkenness, also known as public intoxication, is when someone is visibly intoxicated in a public place.
In most places, it's a misdemeanor offense.
After winning BET's Sunday Best in 2010, the talented singer confessed that she struggled with alcohol.
In 2019, she appeared on an episode of "Iyanla Fix My Life" where she described her crippling addiction to alcohol.
In August of this year, Johnson announced via social media, "I’ve made a heartfelt decision to take a step further in my journey towards my mental health and sobriety. I’ll be going away for some time to focus on ME!"
Subsequently, Johnson hosted "Le'Andraia Live w/ Friends in Little Rock AR" supposedly to raise money for her rehab journey. The concert included Zacardi Cortez, The Walls Group, and Lisa Knowles-Smith, among others.
However, there has been no public announcement or documented evidence that Le'Andria ever entered rehab post the benefit concert.
The 41-year singer is the mother to 4-children.
No word yet on when she will be released from the Greenville, SC Detention Center.
Please keep Le'Andria and her family in your prayers. Let's hope that she will one day conquer her battle with alcoholism once and for all.
