Bishop Michael Brooks was remembered through song and tributes during two days of celebration.

Celebration Concert

On Thursday, July 25th, there was a Celebration Concert in his honor. His son, Grammy-nominated producer and songwriter, Jay Brooks served as the MC for the evening.

The celebration was held at Christian Tabernacle in Southfield, MI.

Karen Clark Sheard; Doobie Pyles from Hartford, CT; Pastor Derrick Brinkley; and Commissioned all sung at the Celebration. A mixed group featuring Pastor William Murphy performed, "Praise His Name." Finally, members of the group Witness reunited and sung two powerful songs in honor of Bishop Michael Brooks. Bishop Brooks, Tasha Page-Lockhart, winner of BET's "Sunday Best," also joined the members of Witness.

Homegoing Service

Friday, July 26, 2024 was the official Homegoing service for Bishop Michael Brooks.

Pastor William Murphy preached a powerful eulogy that spoke to Bishop Brooks talent and goodness as a person.

Bishop Brooks' children- Tasha, LaTia, Sateara, Jessica, and Jay spoke at the Homegoing and remembered their father as a funny, prophetic, and talented man.

Lisa Page Brooks, dressed in black with a veil draping her face, sung a beautiful song before giving a personal tribute to her husband. Her song and words were so touching that many in the audience wept in silence.

Finally, Commissioned sung and instantly reminded everyone why they were one of the top gospel groups of their day. Their signature harmonies were on full display.

Rest in Peace Bishop Michael Brooks!
