Bishop TD Jakes has filed a defamation lawsuit against Pastor Duane Youngblood, who claimed Jakes tried to sexually assault him when he was 18 or 19 years old, according to the New York Post.
Youngblood made the sexual abuse claims against Bishop Jakes on the October 27, 2024 episode of the “Larry Reid Live” podcast.
In the interview, Youngblood alleges that Bishop Jakes tried to groom him and also hugged and “tried to kiss” him.
Youngblood made similar sexual abuse allegations against Bishop Quandra Wilson and Bishop Sherman Watkins.
Subsequently, in a November 15th legal filing, an attorney for Youngblood demanded $6 million from Jakes “in order to resolve this matter quickly and privately."
According to the New York Post, Youngblood said if Jakes didn’t pay up, he would sue him for sexual assault and harassment.
Bishop Jakes responded by filing a defamation suit against Youngblood in Pennsylvania federal court.
Moreover, the lawsuit hints that the stress from Youngblood's alleged $6M financial extortion may have contributed to Jakes's recent medical emergency.
Attorneys for Jakes wrote, "This lawsuit is intended to bring that scheme to a halt, to end the extreme emotional, physical, and spiritual toll Defendants’ conduct has caused Bishop Jakes.
"The attorney also highlighted that Youngblood is a registered sex offender in the state of Pennsylvania and is currently on parole.
