Civil Activist and Former Christian Pastor, Shaun King, Converts to Islam

Shaun King, who is known for his civil rights activism on social media, has announced that he has converted to Islam after witnessing the atrocities in Gaza.


King made the announcement in a in a Facebook video where he and his wife recited the shahadah, the Muslim profession of faith.


Shaun King worked as a pastor at Total Grace Christian Church in DeKalb County, Georgia. In 2008, he launched Courageous Church in Atlanta before resigning in 2012 due.


King has helped to raise money for a number of civil rights causes involving the Black Lives Matter movement, including the shooting of Tamir Rice.


Shaun King has been vocal about the conflict in the Middle East involving Israel-Hamas. He has publicly supported, while condemning Israeli aggression in Gaza.


King has 5 children.


He and his wife Rai King formally converted to Islam from Christianity in the presence of Palestinian-American Imam Omar Suleiman.
