The Rev. Boise Kimber has been officially installed as president of the National Baptist Convention, USA, Inc., during the midwinter board meeting on January 15, 202. Installation services were held at the historic Sixteenth Street Baptist Church in Birmingham, Alabama.
Dr. Kimber succeeds Dr. Jerry Young, whose term ended.
The installation service was held in the church that was bombed by members of the Ku Klux Klan over 60 years ago, resulting in the deaths of four girls.
The National Baptist Convention is the oldest and largest black religious convention in the country.
Dr. Kimber is the pastor of First Calvary Baptist Church in New Haven, Connecticut.
During his speech, Dr. Kimber stated that his goals included “to have a better and a greater relationship with our young people of our convention" and "to have women to become a part of the administrative parts of our convention.”
Over 21,000 churches are a part of the National Baptist Convention, which includes nearly 8 million members.
Congratulations to Dr. Kimber! Let's pray that he's able to execute his vision and effectively lead the Convention into the future with grace and honor.
