She nailed it...but not without controversy!

Grammy and Stellar Award winner, Tasha Cobbs Leonard nailed singing "Lift Every Voice and Sing" at the 2024 NFL Season Opener!

Leonard won a Grammy in 2014 for Best Gospel/Contemporary Christian Music Performance. She's won 15 Stellar Awards and 9 Dove Awards.

The 2024 football season kicked-off with the Kansas City Chiefs overpowering the Baltimore Ravens 27-20.

However, Leonard's performance of "Lift Every Voice and Sing" was not without controversy, with some racists expressing frustration that the Black National Anthem was sung before the NFL Game.

"Lift Every Voice and Sing" was written by James Weldon Johnson in the late 1800 and adopted as the Black National Anthem in 1917.

NFL teams began including the song before the start of games in 2020 in the aftermath of the George Floyd racial unrest. The song has been sung at every Super Bowl since 2020.

R&B singer, Coco Jones sung the national anthem.

Nevertheless, congratulations to Tasha Cobbs Leonard for representing the gospel music and Black communities on a national stage and courageously nailing the Black National Anthem, despite the contempt of some.
