Memphis pastor, Ricky Floyd, has died after being shot outside of a Downtown Memphis restaurant, according to the Memphis Police Department (MPD).
The shooting happened just after 1a.m. The alleged suspect, 42-year-old Samantha Marion, was arrested and charged with voluntary manslaughter in connection to Floyd's death.
Witnesses say that Floyd and Marion had been arguing before the fatal shooting.
"His unwavering dedication to our community and his profound impact on the lives of those he touched will be remembered and cherished. During this difficult time, we kindly ask for your patience and understanding as we make the necessary arrangements to honor his life and legacy."
Floyd was the senior lead pastor at Pursuit of God Church in Frayser. He was a beacon of hope in the Frayser community, helping inner city children and families.
Pastor Floyd leaves behind his wife, Sheila Floyd, family, friends, congregation, and all those he touched.
Pastor Floyd was a pillar of the community and his death is a stunning loss.
