E. Dewey Smith, Senior Pastor of The House of Hope in Georgia, has announced the passing of his father Pastor Eddie D. Smith, Sr.
Pastor Eddie D. Smith Sr. served as the Senior Pastor of Macedonia Church in Macon, Georgia before retiring after 50 years in 2022.
Pastor Smith Senior was known for his inspiring, spirit filled sermons. As a child, he sung with the quartet group Morning Stars Jr. He subsequently spent over 20 years as the lead singer of The Morning Stars of Macon, Georgia.
In 2012, he released a 5 song EP, which included the remake of The Blind Boys of Mississippi's "You've Done What The Doctor Could Not Do."
In 2022, the city of Macon renamed part of Second Street in honor of Pastor Smith, Sr.
Like his father, Pastor E. Dewey Smith Jr is also a well-respected minister and musical artist. In 2022, he received a Stellar Award for debut album, “God Period." His first single, “Your Presence Is A Gift,” rose to #1 on the Billboard Gospel Airplay Charts.
