A plan is now on the table!

Pastor Jamal Bryant, Senior Pastor of New Birth Missionary Baptist Church, is calling for a 40-day "fast" from Target after the retailer sidelined its diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives.

Starting March 5th, which coincides with the start of Lent, Pastor Bryant is requesting that the faith-based community not only fast and pray, but to also "fast" from Target for 40 days.

Interested individuals can visit TargetFast.Org to sign a Target boycott petition and receive a list of over 300,000 Black businesses to patron instead.

According to the TargetFast.org website, "These [DEI] rollbacks represent more than just corporate decisions; they reflect a deeper erosion of the moral and ethical commitments necessary to build a just society. As people of faith, we cannot be silent."

In the unveiling of his plan, Pastor Bryant stated that the Target "fast" will begin in 30 days (March 5th), which will allow Black businesses within Target time to find new avenues to promote and distribute their product.

Based in Minneapolis, Minnesota, the site of the death of George Floyd, Target was once applauded for its DEI initiatives and its championing of Black-owned businesses. However, given the recent change in political leadership, the mega-retailer has publicly reversed its commitment to DEI policies and initiatives.
