A milestone has been reached for a pastor and a church.
On Sunday March 17, 2024, Pastor Jamal Bryant celebrated his 5th pastoral anniversary with New Birth Missionary Baptist Church in Lithonia, GA today
The guest speaker was Dr. Dana Carson from Houston, TX.
Powerhouse vocalist Kathy Taylor, who is known for such hits as "Oh How Precious" and "God IS With Us," was the guest musician.
In attendance was also Pastor Bryant's twin daughters, Adore and Angel with reality TV star Gizelle Bryant. At the Sunday service, the twins announced they will be attending separate HBCUs after graduation. One will matriculate to Spelman, and the other to Hampton.
This milestone is significant for both Pastor Bryant and New Birth.
Bryant took over New Birth after an extensive pastoral search after the passing of influential, but controversial pastor, Bishop Eddie Long in 2017. In the wake of Long's allegations of inappropriate behavior and subsequent death, membership at the church had dwindled. Pastor Bryant left his AME congregation in Maryland to help re-build New Birth Missionary Baptist Church, helping to restore the church’s attendance and influence.
