Thaddeus Matthews, the pastor as known as "The Cussing Pastor," has passed away.

The revelation of his passing was made by his wife Melanie Matthews via a Facebook post.

She wrote, "No more sickness and no more worries. You said you were tired and wanted to rest. On today at 2:25pm, you transitioned peacefully surrounded by family and friends!"

Matthews was an opinionated pastor, radio show personality, and talk show host known for freely peppering his message with profanity. He'd stated on several occasions that he did not think his use of profanity was offensive to God.

Around 2016, he started the now defunct Naked Truth Liberation and Empowerment Ministries. In 2018 Matthews took his message to the streets in what he called "The Bullsh*t From the Pulpit Tour."

He received national attention for his public feuds with R&B singer K Michelle and Pastor Jamal Bryant.

In 2012, he faced legal trouble for posting child pornography on his Facebook page, which he claimed was intended to capture the adult perpetrator. He was eventually given probation and avoided jail time for the post.

In 2019, he hosted a twerking contest at his church.

Matthews and his trademark profanity-laced tirades oftentimes penetrated the cultural zeitgeist. The hip hop duo Freddie Gibbs and Madlib sampled one of Matthew's videos titled, “I don’t give a s*** Saturday.” The comedy show, Tosh.0, even featured Matthews in one of its episodes.

Recently, Thaddeus Matthews appeared on the Tasha K podcast. His relationship devolved after the podcaster revealed suggestive text messages between Matthews and someone other than his wife.

In recent weeks, Thaddeus Matthews had been in declining health.

Matthews was a cultural lighting rod, especially in his hometown of Memphis.

Thaddeus "Cussing Pastor" Matthews was 67 years old.
